Fifteen-year-old Zimbabwean footballer Tatenda Nyaruwe, is making headlines in Australia after winning player of the tournament in the Under-16 National Premier League (NPL).

The 2018 National Premier Leagues is the sixth season of the Australian National Premier Leagues football competition.

The league competition is played among eight separate divisions, divided by FFA state and territory member federations. The divisions are ACT, NSW, Northern NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.

The winners of each respective divisional league compete in a finals playoff tournament at season end, culminating in a Grand Final.

The young soccer ace also played in the Zurich soccer cup, a tournament with 12 teams.

The Australian-based teenager’s talent was discovered at the age of five, playing for his school before rising to play for the Adelaide Blue Eagles team in South Australia as a midfielder.

Tatenda’s father and agent, Stanley Nyaruwe said prospects were bright for his son’s football career in Australia and abroad as the boy has already court the eye of foreign teams in Italy.

He said, Tatenda is looking forward to represent Zimbabwe with the Young Warriors.

“Tatenda is very talented and has won the player of the tournament. I really want him to play for the Warriors in future, it will be an achievement for his sporting career.

“So far he was identified to go for trials in Italy next year,” he said.

But that’s not all. The young athlete also plays basketball, although not at professional level yet.

Through support from his family, classmates and team mates, Tatenda has managed to juggle through school work, with extra lessons and helping out at a local restaurant for two days a week.

“This has not affected his studies at all, the young man is doing well and always puts an extra effort to get things done,” said Nyaruwe.

Founded in 1958, Adelaide Blue Eagles is a soccer club based at the Marden Sports Complex, South Australia.

The team is a participant in the recently formed South Australian Super League. ABE is a predominantly Italian Australian – supported club. This is evident as the club has been known in the past as both Azzurri and Napoli.

The team uses Marden Sports Complex as its home ground.

Adelaide Blue Eagles are at the apex of the State League 1 South Australia with 48 point from 22 played games so far.
