Celebration Health, the philanthropic medical arm of Celebration Ministries International, has organised its first-ever fundraising run to transport donated medical containers with equipment, furniture and sundries to assist in restocking local hospitals and clinics.

The move is deliberately designed to improve healthcare facilities in the country.

Celebration, a registered faith-based organisation, has set the critical event for tomorrow (Saturday February 23, 2019).

The run starts at 0630hrs from the Celebration Centre in Borrowdale.

Runners are open to selecting a race of their choice from three available options; a 5km fun run or walk, 10km and 21km half marathons.

Celebration Health medical director Dr Freeblessing Murahwa said, “Celebration Health has been organising many faith-based initiatives working with Government and private sector organisations to bring health care and wellness solutions for the vulnerable since 2005.

“We are encouraging people who are unable to participate in the run to support the cause by making a donation . . . which will benefit our communities and fellow Zimbabweans.”

Dr Murahwa added that they are reaching out to local businesses to support and partner with Celebration Health for this cause.

“Any donation goes a long way in making a difference,” said Dr Murahwa.

To participate in the run, adults are paying $15 while children fork out $5.

Runners may make pre-payment online at www.clicknpay.africa and pay using ecocash, telecash, VISA, Mastercard or Zimswitch.

Collection of race bibs starts today from 3pm to 5pm at Celebration Centre.

There is still room for others to register and run on Saturday morning.

Celebration Health is non-profit non-governmental organisation that attempts to contribute towards the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s (MOHCC) health care strategic delivery objectives in Zimbabwe.

It was established in 1996 but started operations in 2005.

Its main mandate is to respond to the health care needs of some underprivileged members of society, in tandem with Christ’s call to believers to do something to “the least of Christ’s brethren.”

So far, Celebration Health has facilitated for 12x40ft medical containers for over 50 medical facilities in the country’s provinces.

They have been involved in responses to the 2008 and 2017 cholera outbreaks, as well and organises numerous medical outreaches with various surgical teams throughout Zimbabwe.
