The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority would like to advise its valued clients that all tourists who temporarily entered Zimbabwe driving a foreign registered motor vehicle that was issued with a Temporary Importation Permit (TIP), as provided for by Section 124 of the Customs and Excise Act, Chapter 23:02, as read with Section 104 of the Customs and Excise (General) Regulations, Statutory Instrument 154 of 2001, and whose travel has been disrupted by the current lockdown, which has been necessitated by the Global Covid-19 pandemic, will have their TIP’s extended during the lockdown period in line with the tourists designated period of stay in Zimbabwe as determined by the Zimbabwe Department of Immigration.

If the client is near a border post, they can approach the border for extension.

Alternatively (especially during this lockdown period), clients are advised to contact the nearest ZIMRA port of entry electronically of the need to extend the TIP, attaching copy of TIP, documents showing period of extension of stay in the Country by Immigration, proof of payment of carbon tax and Third Party Insurance.

The following documents will be required to facilitate the extension:

The original TIP that was issued on entry into Zimbabwe;

The tourists valid passport with a valid visitors permit as issued by the Department of Immigration covering the period of extension;

The original or duly notarised motor vehicle registration document;

If the tourist is not the registered owner of the motor vehicle, an affidavit from the registered owner authorizing the tourist to drive the motor vehicle to Zimbabwe;

Valid police clearance for the motor vehicle issued in the country of origin.
