Just three months since their entry onto the market fledging car dealership company Faramatsi Motors, have spread their wings into sport and this week named two prominent former Zimbabwe rugby players Daniel Hondo and Jacques Leitao as the brand ambassadors of their Mazda BT50 range.

Faramatsi Motors, who have turned what used to be the Zimoco Showroom in Harare Central Business District into a Mazda showroom that is also laced with a number of top of the range luxury vehicles, is run by business executive Farai Matsika, who has years of involvement with local sport under his belt.

Matsika, who was chief executive of Croco Motors, was instrumental in that company’s sponsorship deals with Zimbabwe Cricket and ZIFA for whom they once provided the official vehicle that was used by Sunday Chidzambwa in his earlier stint as Warriors coach.

This week, Faramatsi turned to rugby with the pair of former Sables and Cheetahs internationals Hondo and Leitao leading the way in showcasing the latest in the vehicle dealership’s range of cars that have become a hit on the market.

Hondo and Leitao took turns to test drive the BT50 auto and 4X4 Manual double cab vehicles around Harare amid indications by the company’s Dealer Principal Anna Matamisa and Lifestyle Consultant Gerald Sibanda that “just like he used to do at Croco Mr Matsika is keen to see this company grow together with sport in this country and partner with a number of disciplines clines including rugby and football’’.

“Sporting legends acknowledge the muscular and luxurious Mazda BT-50 facelift as the vehicle of choice in today’s vigorous lifestyles during the workweek and at weekends for leisure.

“We must make special mention of the unique BT-50 features including the Stability, Comfort, legroom and the power in the 4×4 truck.

“I would also like to pay tribute to Mr Farai Matsika and his involvement in Sports as CEO of Croco motors in successful sponsorship campaigns with Zimbabwe cricket, football and as Chairman of Mashonaland Eagles,’’ said Sibanda.

Sibanda just like Hondo and Leitao also featured for both the Sables and the Cheetahs before retiring earlier this year at the age of 31.

Matamisa also added that her company whose major markets include the government is bracing for “interesting times given the interest which the Mazda trucks have generated in the country.

“Fara Matsika motors is a Premium Dealership that drives winners in sport, government and corporate world catering for all vehicle needs and requirements that suit the different Lifestyles of its valued customers.

“There is great interest in Bringing the BT-50 Facelift and many other vehicle models to drive the next generation of Zimbabwe rugby stars and National Sports Icons amongst many other Sponsorship packages to be revealed in due time,’’ Matamisa said.

After having a dance with the two vehicles Hondo and Leitao who were vice-captain and captain of the Cheetahs squad both gave their thumbs up for the vehicle describing them as “More than just pick-up trucks but also spacious, comfortable and versatile’’.

The entry of FaraMatsi Motors into sport also comes at a time when rugby is undergoing a massive turnaround under a new leadership led by former Zimbabwe international Aaron Jani.

It also comes just two months before the cheetahs represent Zimbabwe at the Rugby Sevens World Cup in the United States.
