Matsekete leaves FCB for Old Mutual Samuel Matsekete

Old Mutual Zimbabwe has appointed current First Capital Bank (FCB) managing director Samuel Matsekete as its chief executive officer with effect from January 1, 2020, the company announced yesterday. Matsekete will take over from current CEO Jonas Mushosho who retires at the end of 2019.

“Old Mutual is pleased to confirm the appointment of Samuel (Sam) Matsekete as the Group CEO-designate of Old Mutual Zimbabwe Limited. Sam will commence service on January 1, 2020 following the retirement of the current Group CEO, Jonas Mushosho at the end of 2019,” Old Mutual said in a statement.

Meanwhile FCB has also announced the departure of Matsekete.

“The board of directors of First Capital Bank Limited would like to inform all stakeholders that our managing director Mr Samuel Matsekete has resigned from the bank with effect from January 1, 2020 to purse a new career opportunity,” said FCB chairman Sydney Mtsambiwa in a statement.

“The board extends its huge appreciation to Sam for his contribution over 12 successful years with the bank and fully appreciates his desire to progress his career and wish him all success in his new endeavours,” said Mr Mtsambiwa.

FMB Capital Holdings Group chief finance officer Ciaran McSharry has been appointed the managing director as the group starts

its search for a substantive managing

director.

McSharry has over 20 years experiencing in the banking industry with the last nine years at Barclays UK before joining the bank.
