Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri has commented on Cristiano Ronaldo’s outburst after being substituted in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in three years.
The Portugal international cut a frustrated figure after failing to find the net against Lokomotiv, while teammate Aaron Ramsey “stole” the third-minute opener.
Ronaldo’s free-kick was fumbled by Guilherme and as the ball appeared to be crossing the line, Ramsey tapped it in to claim it.
Had the goal been awarded to Ronaldo — it would have set a new Champions League record by scoring against a 34th different club.
Speaking after the game Sarri played down Ronaldo’s reaction to being taken off while the score was still at 1-1, which was the first time he failed to finish a 90 minute game in the competition since February 2016.
“Ronaldo was angry because he wasn’t very well, he had a knee problem a few days ago and his adductor got tired,” Sarri said, as per CNN. — Kickoff.
