HARARE – Zimbabwe Tourism Authority will this week host A’sambeni an annual tourism marketing session that focuses on publicizing destination Zimbabwe to local and international exhibitors.

The tourism body intends to leverage on the 60th edition of ZITF to tap into meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) a niche market which is a big money-maker in the travel and tourism industry.

A’Sambeni exhibition gives local and international conference organisers the opportunity to meet and network with Zimbabwe’s leading hotels, venues, and event suppliers.

In a statement ZTA’s acting chief executive, Mrs Rita Likukuma the yearly event intends take advantage of the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) which attract individuals from diverse section of companies from across the globe.

“The fair is a forum which strives to place Zimbabwe as a preferred destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE)

“The focal point of the A’Sambeni expo is to highlight this arena, with a view to capitalise and develop travel and tourism interest in Zimbabwe particularly, and in Africa as a whole,” said Ms Likukuma.

The ZTA is also taking advantage of ZITF this year to roll out its domestic tourism campaign as it also aims to educate the locals on tourism. With tourism operators under one roof one can even go a step further to make enquiries and have an in-depth appreciation of tourism products.

Tourism is one of the country’s major foreign currency earners and Government has in the past insisted on improvement of standards and has put in place measures to ensure protection of tourists and improvement in service delivery.
